Research Associate

Description:

The postdoctoral researcher will plan, carry out and lead high quality research on the potential impact of the use of antiviral nasal sprays at both the individual and population level.

In particular, the post-holder will be responsible for:

  • The design, development and analysis of mathematical and statistical models for the assessment of antiviral nasal sprays, including i) a within-host model of viral dynamics to describe the dynamical changes of respiratory viruses, e.g., influenza A and SARS-CoV-2, within an individual host and associated symptoms, and the impact of antivirals in controlling virus replication when administered intranasally at different time points pre- and post-exposure to the virus, and ii) the development of an individual-based transmission model to assess the potential impact of the use of such nasal sprays for controlling emerging respiratory infections in the community.
  • The Bayesian calibration of the transmission model to data to estimate model parameters.
  • Write and guide high-impact manuscripts through peer-review process in international journals.
