Description:
The University of Manchester is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Research Associate to support the Inequalities Theme of the Cancer Research UK International Alliance for Cancer Early Detection (ACED). This position will primarily focus on conducting systematic reviews and enhancing Patient & Public Involvement (PPI) efforts in cancer early detection research.
Key responsibilities include conducting a systematic review of frameworks addressing inequalities in early cancer detection and outcomes. The postholder will also undertake a survey of ACED researchers to document all cancer early detection research being carried out in low- and middle-income countries. This information will help assess current research distribution and identify gaps in addressing inequalities.
Additionally, the candidate will work closely with the ACED Inequalities Theme PPI lead, PPI Champion, and a dedicated PPI group to encourage and support public and patient participation in ACED research activities. The role includes preparing summary reports, as well as drafting manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications, contributing significantly to the dissemination of research findings.
The ideal candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent experience in relevant research methodologies including systematic reviews and survey-based studies. They must have a proven record of designing and applying search strategies, screening databases, and conducting narrative syntheses. Familiarity with patient recruitment, public involvement in healthcare research, and work related to cancer is highly desirable. International travel may be required for collaborative visits and conferences.
This role offers flexibility, allowing for either full-time or part-time engagement, and supports blended working arrangements.
