Research Contracts Manager

 

Description:

The University of Warwick is seeking a Research Contracts Manager to join its newly established specialised contracting team within Research & Impact Services (R&IS). The role involves providing high-quality contract support to researchers across the University, enabling growth in research partnerships, income, and impact. The postholder will also manage and deploy a team of four Research Support Coordinators, ensuring seamless service delivery across the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a specialised research contracts team, providing support across the University.

  • Negotiate, interpret, and advise on complex legal requirements, intellectual property, and contractual terms.

  • Ensure research contracts comply with University, client, and external funder requirements while protecting financial and legal interests.

  • Collaborate with faculty-facing teams to facilitate research contracts for business and strategic partnerships.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and development for direct reports.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of research contract management processes and intellectual property law.

  • Proven ability to interpret and advise on complex legal and contractual requirements.

  • Experience managing a team in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.

  • Excellent communication, influence, and presentation skills.

Contract & Location Details:

  • Full-time, hybrid role (minimum of three set days on campus).
