The Centre for the Analysis of Taxation (CenTax), a joint initiative between the London School of Economics (LSE) and the University of Warwick, is dedicated to advancing the understanding of taxation policies and practices. Under the leadership of Dr. Arun Advani (Warwick) and Dr. Andy Summers (LSE), CenTax focuses on generating quantitative evidence on taxation at the top, proposing targeted reforms, and transparently communicating findings to stakeholders in policy, media, and civil society.

As a Research Economist, you will contribute to impactful research projects aimed at analyzing taxation and public economics. This role offers exceptional preparation for doctoral programs in public economics or careers in quantitative public policy analysis.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct data cleaning, validation, and analysis to support CenTax’s research objectives.
  • Contribute to the design of research projects and prepare detailed analysis.
  • Edit academic papers and contribute to co-authored publications and reports as merited.
  • Deliver presentations to both academic and policy audiences, effectively communicating research findings.
  • Support the development of rigorous, evidence-based recommendations for taxation policy.
  • Collaborate with senior researchers and contribute to the transparent dissemination of research outcomes.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Completion of a Master’s degree in Economics (by September 2025).
  • Excellent skills in quantitative data analysis and research methodologies.
  • Ability to contribute to the preparation of academic papers and reports.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
