Description:
The University of Warwick invites applications for the position of Research Fellow within the Superconductivity and Magnetism Group of the Department of Physics. The role is part of the EPSRC-funded project, “Single Crystal Growth at Warwick,” focusing on the growth and characterization of high-quality single crystals of oxides, borides, chalcogenides, and intermetallic materials.
Key Responsibilities:

Crystal Growth and Development:
- Grow high-quality crystals using techniques such as floating zone, Czochralski, Bridgman, flux growth, and chemical vapor transport.
- Explore various materials, including superconductors, skyrmion, and topological materials.

Material Characterization:
- Conduct structural, magnetic, transport, and superconducting property assessments.
- Perform extensive laboratory-based powder and single-crystal x-ray diffraction.

Collaborative Experiments:
- Participate in advanced experiments at international facilities utilizing neutron and x-ray scattering and muon techniques.

Academic Contribution:
- Collaborate with a vibrant research team in a globally renowned group.
- Contribute to the group’s ongoing research in highly correlated electron systems, magnetic materials, and superconductors.
Requirements:

Education:
- PhD (or near completion) in Physics or a closely related field.
- Offers may be made as Research Assistant (Level 5) if the PhD is yet to be conferred, with promotion to Research Fellow (Level 6) upon evidence of PhD completion.

- Strong experimental skills in solid-state synthesis and intermetallic material synthesis.
- Effective communicator with team collaboration skills.
- Proficient in planning and time management to meet research objectives.
