Research Technician

 

Description:

The successful post-holder will provide technical support to senior researchers in various projects which focus on host susceptibility to pneumococcal disease and vaccine/immunological studies on respiratory pathogens ( S. pneumoniae , SARS-CoV2, RSV).

Key Responsibilities are (but not limited to):
Support the research team’s activities

Processing and storage of human samples following good clinical practice (GCP)

Ensure appropriate records of sample processing, storage, and shipment

Provide support on preparing SOPs, risk assessments and COSH forms

Maintenance and running of laboratory equipment

Excellent GCP compliance, laboratory record keeping including lab book

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as an integral, dynamic and flexible member of fast-paced multi-disciplinary research team. Ideally you will be able to demonstrate:

BSc or MSc in a Biological Science

Experience on microbiology and molecular methods

Knowledge of safety regulations such as HTA, HSE, GLP and GCP

Relevant experience of working within a research laboratory

Experience on the use of quantitative research method

Meticulous attention to detail, accurate record keeping and reports

Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise own work
