Join The Crown Estate as the Retail and Deli Manager at the prestigious Windsor Farm Shop, located within the historic Windsor Great Park. The Crown Estate is a unique national landowner with a rich heritage dating back to 1760, managing a diverse portfolio that includes urban centres, rural estates, and significant marine areas around the UK.
Windsor Great Park itself is an ancient Royal landscape spanning 15,800 acres, known for its natural beauty, historical monuments, and commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability.
As the Retail and Deli Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and leading the growth and development of the retail and delicatessen offer at the Windsor Farm Shop. This role is critical to achieving business objectives, optimizing product offerings, and ensuring exceptional customer experience aligned with The Crown Estate’s vision.
Ensure compliance with all legal requirements including HACCP, Sale of Alcohol, Trading Standards, Health & Safety, and Security, and resolve issues promptly
Develop and maintain risk assessments, ensuring team awareness and adherence
Contribute to retail strategy development for food, drink, gifts, plants, and deli products
Manage budgets with weekly reviews, performance monitoring, and action planning
Optimize product margins, sales, stock performance, and staff rotas using data-driven insights (e.g., PowerBI reports)
Continually refresh and benchmark product ranges, develop seasonal themes, and improve product provenance and integrity
Lead visual merchandising initiatives to maintain attractive, well-stocked displays that drive sales
Manage end-to-end stock processes to minimize wastage and loss
Uphold cash handling procedures and financial controls
Lead and motivate the retail team to deliver high productivity, quality, consistency, and excellent customer service
Act as Duty Manager on-site and Fire Marshal, including opening/closing responsibilities
Manage performance and induction of new colleagues in line with company policies
Negotiate with suppliers to secure best prices and promote ethical purchasing practices
Stay informed of industry trends and legislation to identify new opportunities
Collaborate as part of the management team to support wider business objectives
Proven success in premium food retail management, with a strong commercial focus
Experience in delicatessen operations is advantageous
Strong financial acumen with budget and performance management experience
Experience developing and implementing operational policies and procedures
Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with all team levels and stakeholders
Customer service driven with a motivational leadership style
Highly organized with strong project management skills and attention to detail
Personal Licence Holder for Alcohol Sales (training provided)
HACCP Level 3, Food Hygiene Level 2, and Fire Marshal training provided
Proficient in intermediate to advanced Excel
