Retail Merchandiser

 

Description:

We are seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Retail Merchandiser with 2-3 years of inventory planning or stock control experience, ideally in durable goods or furniture. Reporting to the Head Buyer, your primary focus will be on mastering our stock levels – ensuring we have the right products at the right time, minimising overstock.

 

Key Responsibilities

· Inventory Control & Calculation: Lead the calculation of all core inventory metrics including Reorder Points (ROP), Safety Stock levels, and Economic Order Quantities (EOQ) to ensure seamless stock availability while minimising holdi

ng costs.

· Demand Forecasting & Planning: Own the forecasting process by analysing historical sales data, promotional plans, and market trends to generate accurate demand forecasts.

· Purchase Order Quantity (PO) Generation: Translate sales forecasts and inventory calculations into precise Purchase Order quantities for the Head Buyer to review and place.

· Performance Reporting: Generate and analyse weekly and monthly reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sell-through rates, stock turn, weeks of supply (WOS), and aged inventory.

· Underperforming Stock Management: Identify and recommend action plans (promotions, markdowns, or discontinuation) for slow-moving or excess inventory to the Head Buyer.

· System Integrity: Ensure complete data accuracy within the inventory management systems regarding critical parameters such as product lead times, pack sizes, and minimum order quantities

· Supplier & Logistics Liaison: Work with Logistics team to track inbound stock movement and confirmed delivery schedules, communicating status and flagging any lead time delays or discrepancies to the Head Buyer.

 

Requirements

 

· Experience: 2-3 years of proven experience in a dedicated Inventory Planner, Allocator, or Retail Merchandising role, preferably within furniture, home goods, or other products with long lead times.

· Crucial Skill: Expert working knowledge of inventory mathematics (ROP, EOQ, safety stock) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, conditional formatting).

· Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with absolute attention to detail.

· Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration (Buying, Sales, Warehouse, Marketing).

· Proficiency required in using dedicated inventory management/ERP systems.
