Description:

Options Higford School is a specialist school set in 28 acres of Shropshire countryside, educating up to 60 autistic students with associated behavioural needs. With small class groups and personalised curriculums, the school aims to support academic progress, social skills, life skills, emotional regulation, and community access.

As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, developing and maintaining curriculum pathways, monitoring pupil progress, and liaising with colleagues and external teams to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach a range of subjects to ensure effective delivery of the curriculum tailored to SEN pupils

  • Develop and maintain curriculum schemes and plans

  • Monitor pupil progress and implement interventions for underachievement

  • Collaborate with SLT to deliver a differentiated curriculum and consistent teaching approaches

  • Support the development of whole school curriculum mapping and learning styles

  • Provide training and support to staff on pedagogical developments

  • Liaise with exams officers for accurate qualifications entries

  • Work closely with therapy teams to support pupils with complex needs

  • Promote access to learning and social opportunities for SEN pupils

Additional Information:

  • The school supports a 4-Day Working Week trial, enabling employees to work 80% of contractual hours while receiving 100% pay (subject to probation and trial success).
