CureCraft is seeking a Senior AI Scientist to join their innovative team, which is pioneering the future of protein design using AI-driven technologies. As part of a venture-backed, high-profile team, you will work at the cutting edge of protein engineering and contribute to designing novel enzymes through a combination of deep learning and wet-lab experiments.

The role involves scaling AI pipelines for protein design, inventing next-gen architectures for protein sequence and structure prediction, and driving collaboration between bioinformaticians and wet-lab scientists. You will also contribute to the development of active-learning and reinforcement learning strategies to improve protein design.

Key Responsibilities:

• Invent and implement next-gen architectures for protein sequence, structure, and fitness prediction (e.g., transformers, diffusion models, hybrid approaches).

• Close the loop between model outputs and experimental data, developing active-learning or reinforcement learning strategies for continuous improvement.

• Own data engineering, model training, and evaluation on multi-GPU/TPU stacks; productionize successful models for routine protein design tasks.

• Collaborate with bioinformaticians and wet-lab scientists, transforming experimental data into actionable insights.

• Track and apply cutting-edge advances in GenAI, computational biology, and related fields.

• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building a mission-driven, interdisciplinary team.

Requirements:

• PhD (or equivalent experience) in Machine Learning, Computational Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field.

• Hands-on mastery of deep learning frameworks and generative modeling techniques.

• Proven track record applying AI to protein or molecular problems (e.g., publications, open-source contributions, industrial success stories).

• Strong grasp of statistics, experimental design, and understanding of biological data (noise, bias, scale).

• Ability to thrive in a fast-moving startup, turning ambiguity into actionable roadmaps.

• Plus: Familiarity with tools like UniRef, UniProt, MGnify, PDB, AlphaFold DB, FoldSeek, and NGS data.
