Senior Audit Manager

HSBC is currently seeking an experienced and driven Senior Audit Manager to join its Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Governance Audit team. This role is based in Edinburgh with a hybrid work arrangement, offering an exceptional opportunity to influence the risk and governance landscape within one of the world’s largest banking institutions.

As a Senior Audit Manager – Governance Audit, you will play a key role in independently assessing and challenging the design and operational effectiveness of controls that manage corporate governance risks within HSBC. This position is critical for protecting the bank's assets, reputation, and long-term financial sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, coordinate, and execute governance-related internal audit assignments across the full audit lifecycle, including planning, scoping, fieldwork, reporting, and post-report validation

• Provide independent evaluations of control effectiveness in managing corporate governance risks and present findings to senior audit and business stakeholders

• Apply and enhance innovative audit methodologies and techniques to improve the delivery and quality of audits

• Maintain robust relationships with internal stakeholders, staying informed of regulatory developments, business changes, and industry trends

• Coach and mentor junior audit professionals, contributing to a culture of excellence and continuous learning within the audit function

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Proven experience in internal audit or a closely related function

• Strong understanding of corporate governance frameworks and regulatory environments

• Analytical and critical thinking capabilities with the ability to manage competing priorities

• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams

• Familiarity with data-driven audit techniques such as analytics, process mining, and data visualisation (preferred but not essential)
