Senior Backend Engineer

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and developing scalable backend systems, APIs, and high-performance services. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend engineers, designers, product teams, and QA professionals to deliver cutting-edge solutions that support Deel’s high-volume, global operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and enhance backend systems and APIs.

• Participate actively in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from product planning and discovery to deployment.

• Build robust, scalable systems capable of handling high transaction volumes and global growth demands.

• Ensure database optimization, data migration, and advanced modeling, primarily using PostgreSQL.

• Design secure, high-performance APIs including input validation, JWT tokens, and queue-based systems.

• Contribute to finding and fixing bugs swiftly to maintain high-quality standards.

• Deliver customer-centric, high-value software solutions aligned with business objectives.

Requirements:

• Strong proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript/JavaScript, and at least one additional server-side language.

• Expert-level knowledge in SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL, including query optimization and database modeling.

• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.

• Experience in building scalable and high-performance systems for large transaction volumes.

• Proven experience in API development with a focus on security, scalability, and performance.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate in a remote-first, distributed team.

• At least 8 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with SaaS products running 24/7 on major cloud platforms.

• Familiarity with serverless architecture on AWS.

• Knowledge of the FinTech industry and its challenges.
