Senior Credit Controller

Description:

Alexander Lloyd is seeking an experienced Senior Credit Controller to join their finance team in Horsham, West Sussex. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with strong credit control expertise to take ownership of a portfolio of customer accounts and play a key role in ensuring timely cash collections and account reconciliation.

As a Senior Credit Controller, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end credit control process, building positive client relationships, and contributing to the financial health of the organisation by maintaining low levels of aged debt and improving cash flow performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take full ownership of the credit control function for assigned customer accounts.

• Conduct proactive follow-ups via phone and email to chase overdue payments.

• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with clients to resolve payment issues and prevent future delays.

• Negotiate and manage repayment plans with customers when necessary.

• Reconcile accounts and ensure accurate allocation of incoming payments.

• Monitor aged debt reports and implement strategies to reduce outstanding balances.

• Collaborate with internal departments to resolve invoice disputes or client queries efficiently.

• Provide regular reporting on debtor status and collections performance to senior leadership.

• Support and mentor junior credit control staff if applicable.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Demonstrable experience in credit control, preferably in a senior or lead role.

• Strong negotiation and communication skills with a customer-centric approach.

• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organisational skills.

• Ability to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks, and work under pressure.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting systems such as Sage, Xero, or similar platforms.

• Self-driven, results-oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
