The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining the organisation’s Azure-based data infrastructure, shaping the next generation of their data platform as they transition to Microsoft Fabric. Data Engineering & Architecture
Design, build, and maintain Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines to manage complex ETL processes and integrations.
Develop scalable, optimised data models in Azure Synapse Analytics to support analytics and operational reporting.
Lead the design and governance of Power BI datasets and semantic models, ensuring adherence to DAX best practices and performance tuning.
Shape and evolve the organisation’s data architecture, supporting the migration to Microsoft Fabric and driving data platform modernisation.
Data Governance & Quality
Implement and maintain data validation, monitoring, and quality frameworks to ensure the reliability and integrity of all data assets.
Manage and optimise Azure Data Lake structures, ensuring seamless integration with analytics environments.
Collaboration & Mentorship
Work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical data solutions.
Mentor and guide junior data engineers, establishing and enforcing best engineering practices.
Participate in Agile delivery processes using Azure DevOps for sprint planning, backlog management, and CI/CD workflows.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
Contribute to the organisation’s adoption of Microsoft Fabric by influencing architecture decisions and integration strategies.
Explore AI-driven automation through ChatGPT and Copilot integrations to enhance data processing and reporting efficiencies.
Azure Data Factory (ADF): Expert in building and automating ETL pipelines.
Azure Synapse Analytics: Skilled in SQL pool performance tuning, data warehousing, and large-scale analytics.
Power BI: Advanced experience managing enterprise models, data governance, and performance optimisation.
SQL: Expert in writing, optimising, and troubleshooting complex queries.
Azure Data Lake: Strong understanding of storage layers, structures, and analytics integration.
Microsoft Fabric: Experience contributing to or leading adoption projects (preferred).
Git / Azure DevOps: Proficient in version control, CI/CD, and release management.
Azure Machine Learning (desirable): Experience integrating ML models into data pipelines.
AI & Automation (desirable): Experience leveraging ChatGPT/Copilot for insights and automation.
Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities within engineering teams.
Strong documentation and communication skills.
Analytical thinker with a problem-solving mindset.

Passionate about data-driven innovation and continuous improvement.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a Data Engineering role within a cloud-based environment.
Demonstrated success delivering projects using Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, and Power BI.
Experience leading data modernisation initiatives involving Microsoft Fabric or similar technologies.
Proven ability to mentor junior team members and establish technical standards.

Salary: £60,000 – £70,000
