Senior Data Engineer

Here at Drax we have implemented Data and Integration Hubs across Drax Group. This involves Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, a series of Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) technologies, and data from a variety of internal and external sources with the aim to enable the Data & Data Science teams to have data sources easily accessible at their fingertips to utilize in building analytical and statistical models to further the knowledge base of Drax Group with enterprise-grade Data Science projects.

As a Senior Data Engineer here at Drax, you will be responsible for the following…

• To understand the group Data Science and BI and Reporting teams requirements for short-term and long-term ingestion of various data sources and deliver these in line with the Drax IT strategy, data model, and enterprise data architecture
• Design, build and implement data and machine learning pipelines for exploratory projects and models in production with a high degree of automation
• Transform prototypes into end-to-end data solutions using software engineering best practices
• Identify and refine further high value opportunities to improve group and business unit processes, to continuously strengthen data and data science in Drax
   

About You

To be successful in this role you will have the following…

• Experience in building production-ready data engineering solutions, implementing and maintaining scalable data structures to deliver BI and/or data science projects to end users
• Working knowledge of Python, SQL, Spark, Databricks, ETL tools
• Experience working with large volumes of data
• Experience with AWS/Azure technology
• Working knowledge of UNIX / Linux command line, source control and scripting
• Good knowledge of NoSQL databases
• Data analysis and modelling experience
