Senior Data Vendor Analyst

Description:

Baillie Gifford is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Vendor Analyst to support its strategic data vendor requirements and enhance the management of external data that underpins investment and operational systems. This role is critical to optimizing data acquisition, integration, and usage to drive better investment and operational outcomes.

The Senior Data Vendor Analyst will collaborate with the Data Vendor Manager, investment teams, and operational stakeholders to ensure that all external data is sourced, evaluated, negotiated, and integrated effectively while ensuring compliance with contracts, regulations, and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Vendor Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with data vendors.

  • Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs).

  • Monitor vendor costs, estimates, and performance against contractual terms.

• Data Evaluation & Integration:

  • Assess quality, reliability, and relevance of external data.

  • Align data integration with investment and operational processes.

• Data Strategy & Optimisation:

  • Identify new data sources to enhance organizational capabilities.

  • Align acquisitions with strategic goals and improve efficiency of data usage.

• Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Ensure data usage complies with regulatory, contractual, and internal standards.

  • Implement controls to mitigate data-related risks.

• Collaboration & Communication:

  • Partner with investment managers, analysts, and operational teams.

  • Provide actionable intelligence, cost awareness, and performance insights to senior stakeholders.

• Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging data technologies, and best practices.

  • Drive initiatives to improve data quality and vendor relations.

Skills & Qualifications:

• In-depth understanding of the investment management industry and key data vendors (e.g., Bloomberg, MSCI, LSEG).

• Strong experience in vendor management, contract review, and cost control.

• Advanced analytical, reporting, and data visualization skills (preferred).

• Exceptional collaboration, adaptability, and storytelling capabilities.
