Senior Development Manager

Description:

BNRG, a leader in the renewable energy industry since 2007, is seeking a Senior Development Manager (DM) to join our UK Development team. Reporting to the UK Programme Manager, the DM will manage land, planning, and grid connections for new utility-scale solar PV and battery storage projects in the UK.

Operating in five OECD countries, BNRG is expanding its global presence with headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, and offices in the US and Australia. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a rapidly growing clean energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:

🌍 Project Development & Land Acquisition

• Support the development of utility-scale PV and storage projects from inception to ready-to-build status.
• Secure land rights by negotiating Heads of Terms, Option, and Lease Agreements with landowners and agents.
• Work with internal legal counsel and external law firms for contract finalization.

🏗 Planning & Regulatory Approvals

• Secure planning permissions through local authority TCPA or DCO consenting processes.
• Coordinate technical and environmental advisors to ensure timely planning submissions, appeals, and RFIs.
• Engage with local planning authorities to facilitate project approvals.

⚡ Grid Connection & Infrastructure

• Secure and maintain grid connection arrangements with both transmission and distribution networks.
• Work alongside grid advisors and specialists to manage grid offers.

📊 Technical Assessments & Site Layouts

• Conduct site screening and constraint analysis using GIS-based tools.
• Optimize solar PV and battery storage layouts with software such as Rated Power.

💰 Financial & Commercial Strategy

• Collaborate with the finance team to assess project viability and maintain investment models.
• Assist in the due diligence of acquisition opportunities and coordinate with advisors.

📑 Project Management & Compliance

• Oversee budgeting, risk management, health & safety, and quality control.
• Ensure compliance with internal approvals and stakeholder expectations.

Candidate Requirements:

✅ Minimum 4 years of experience in renewable energy project development.
✅ Undergraduate degree in a related field (Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, etc.).
✅ Strong business acumen, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
✅ Excellent negotiation, communication, and coordination abilities.
✅ Ability to manage complex projects in dynamic environments.

Preferred Skills:
➕ Familiarity with solar PV and storage layout design.
➕ Knowledge of UK planning policy and grid connection arrangements.
➕ Experience in construction processes and terminology.
➕ Proficiency in GIS tools for site assessment.
➕ Strong process orientation and Microsoft Office proficiency.
