Description:

Expanded, a division of Laing O’Rourke, is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join the prestigious Monklands Hospital Replacement Project in Airdrie, Glasgow. This is a high-profile UK healthcare infrastructure development focusing on reinforced concrete structures, where the selected candidate will play a pivotal role in engineering execution, quality assurance, and on-site leadership.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned engineer to work within one of the UK’s most respected construction and engineering firms, contributing to the successful delivery of a landmark healthcare project that emphasizes safety, quality, and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of 2 to 4 Section Engineers to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Apply and promote best engineering practices and innovative construction methodologies.

  • Interpret design drawings, technical specifications, and as-built documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements) and ITP (Inspection and Test Plan) requirements.

  • Oversee and complete QA documentation, ensuring meticulous record keeping and adherence to standards.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced staff members.

  • Manage temporary works, with a solid understanding of TWC (Temporary Works Coordinator) principles.

  • Contribute to the production and understanding of method statements and work processes.

  • Maintain awareness and enforcement of site Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) procedures.

  • Plan and coordinate material and plant requirements, including call-off schedules to maintain workflow continuity.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related construction discipline.

  • Approximately 6 years of relevant engineering experience within civil or structural projects.

  • Proven experience working on reinforced concrete structures and large-scale construction projects.

  • Strong understanding of engineering design, temporary works, and QA documentation.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor and coordinate a technical team.

  • Comprehensive understanding of health and safety practices in a construction environment.
