Duties and Responsibilities
- Possess a working knowledge of their patient’s drug regimes and treatment plans.
- Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care needs of individual patients undergoing treatments in their care.
- To provide information to all patients prior to treatment and through ongoing care in order to aid informed consent. To ensure access to a Fertility Counsellor as required.
- To perform ultrasound scanning of all fertility patients including diagnostic scans and administration of drugs relevant to patient’s treatment (in line with current NMC guidelines), teaching patients to self-administer where relevant and appropriate.
- Assist in clinical procedures such as Oocyte retrievals, Embryo transfers, IUI, Hycosy, Endometrial scratch/biopsy
- Ensure adequate stocks of supplies and drugs are held to ensure the smooth operation of patient’s treatment.
- .Provide training to junior nursing staff to facilitate their skills development in fertility services, treatment planning and ultrasonography.
Required experience and skills
- Previous fertility experience.
- Phlebotomy experience
- Ability to cannulate
- Experience with scanning (not essential)
