Description:
The University of Law is inviting applications from qualified lawyers to join their academic faculty as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer at the Birmingham campus. The role is ideal for solicitors or barristers with significant practice experience and a strong desire to contribute to the legal profession by shaping the next generation of legal professionals.
The university is particularly interested in candidates with specialisation in real estate, business law, corporate law, civil law, or criminal litigation, although all areas of law are welcome.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality and engaging legal instruction and academic support
Actively participate in curriculum development and assessment design
Develop inclusive learning materials and ensure alignment with academic standards
Communicate complex legal concepts clearly to students and peers
Serve as module tutor, academic coach, and pastoral guide for students
Requirements for Lecturer Role:
Undergraduate degree in law or equivalent
Qualified solicitor or barrister
Fellowship of Advance HE (or willingness to achieve this)
Willingness to undertake a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE), fully supported by the university
Requirements for Senior Lecturer Role:
Postgraduate qualification in a relevant legal subject
Fellowship of Advance HE (mandatory)
Substantial teaching experience with demonstrable impact
Experience in mentoring, assessment moderation, and leading academic teams
