Senior Management Accountant

 

Description:

Lead the delivery of timely and accurate management accounts, delivering through others as well as own contribution.

Ensuring tasks are appropriately undertaken, training has been provided and procedures are in place for junior staff.

Verify the reasonableness of accruals, ensure there is suitable backing and clear workings provided. Work with Management accountant to ensure clear audit trails and approvals are in place.

Interpreting financial and non-financial datasets to identify trends, risks, issues and opportunities in the position, comparing these with the organisational narrative and advising the Senior FBP and Head of Strategic Finance.

Superuser for financial reporting tools (currently primarily Power BI and Alteryx).

Creating and maintaining reports and ensuring accuracy.

Co-ordination of data and process flow between Strategic Finance, HR and other Finance & Commercial teams.

Ensuring data is available, timely and accurate for use in accruals and forecasting.

Manage internal budgets & delegations .

The majority of our workforce are currently working remotely and will be until early – mid 2022, however this role is based at our main Cardiff office. Although we are still working on what our "new" normal will be, it is likely that you will be expected to attend the Cardiff site when required to allow ongoing support and development and to allow you to collaborate with your colleagues

Responsibilities

Substantial experience in a Management Accounting and financial reporting role, either in private or public sector.
Highly competent in reporting packages including designing and creation
Advanced Reporting and Excel skills
Excellent communication skills
Leadership Skills
Ability to present technical accounting recommendations, both oral and written
Highly competent in producing written reports
Highly competent in reporting packages including designing and creation
Excellent communication skills using business and technical language to all levels where appropriate
Ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines with conflicting demands
A flexible and reliable approach to deal with a constantly changing working environment
Drive a dedicated team to deliver

Desirable

Ability to present technical accounting recommendations, both oral and written
CIMA/Finance qualification e.g. CIMA/ACCA/AAT
Experience using PowerBI and Alteryx or similar software
