This high-impact leadership role offers the unique opportunity to shape and expand Wiley’s licensing strategies across global markets and rapidly evolving digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor a team of licensing professionals. Define clear KPIs, foster a high-performance culture, and build commercial capabilities across the team.

  • Strategic Licensing Execution: Develop and execute a comprehensive licensing strategy that spans various content types, geographic regions, and customer sectors including pharma, healthcare, education, and enterprise solutions.

  • Clinical Outcome Assessments: Spearhead the expansion of Wiley’s Clinical Outcome Assessment (COA) licensing services, growing this segment into a core revenue driver.

  • Digital Licensing Growth: Identify new business opportunities within third-party digital platforms such as aggregator sites, enterprise software, decision-support tools, and more.

  • Complex Deal Structuring: Lead end-to-end negotiations and pricing strategies for sophisticated and customized licensing deals. Ensure that agreements align with revenue goals, client needs, and Wiley’s strategic objectives.

  • Compliance & Legal Oversight: Maintain rigorous adherence to copyright and intellectual property regulations. Integrate best practices into all licensing activities.

  • Client Relationship Management: Develop and nurture long-term partnerships with key clients. Understand their evolving needs and design bespoke licensing models tailored to meet their objectives.

  • Market Leadership & Representation: Represent Wiley at key events, conferences, and industry forums to solidify its status as a market-leading licensing provider.

  • Insightful Reporting: Deliver high-quality forecasts, performance analytics, and commercial insights to the senior leadership team to support strategic decision-making.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Substantial experience in licensing, rights management, or commercial IP partnerships, preferably within publishing, pharma, or digital content sectors

  • Strong leadership record, with experience managing sales or licensing teams toward ambitious revenue outcomes

  • Thorough understanding of copyright law and digital rights licensing

  • Capable of structuring complex licensing deals tailored to enterprise needs

  • Highly proficient in negotiation, client engagement, and solution-oriented communication

  • Familiarity with digital content licensing models for enterprise software or aggregator tools

  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, including CRM (e.g., Salesforce) and Excel reporting

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally when required


Salary & Compensation:

  • Base Salary Range: £51,000 – £75,667 per year

  • Monthly Equivalent: £4250 – £6305 per month

  • Final salary will be based on candidate’s experience, geographic location, and skillset
