Senior Mechanical Engineer

Moog Aircraft Group is looking for a full time Senior Mechanical Engineer to join an established engineering team at our Tewkesbury UK facility.

The Product Development Engineering team lead new product development from initial concept design through to certification of hardware for use on an aircraft applications. We work on a range of high profile aerospace programmes providing electro hydraulic components for flight control and engine control applications.

We have direct access to the latest engineering tools for performance calculations, 3D modelling, stress analysis software, prototype manufacture and test environments, as well as the opportunities for training and development within these areas.

In this role, you’ll be working on hydraulic components where an understanding of hydraulic performance and aerospace standards and approach would be desirable.

Key responsibilities

• Use calculation methods to size and predict product performance, make design recommendations, assess part non-conformances, support failure investigations, produce engineering reports and coordinate test work required to verify analysis models.
• Provide technical leadership to a project team.
• Ensure successful completion of assigned project phases within the budgeted time and cost constraints.

Key skills and experience

• Proficiency in Mathcad, MATLAB Simulink or equivalent.
• Desirable to have experience with design software Siemens NX or equivalent.
• Advanced MS Office user (focused on MS Word, MS Excel).
• Understanding and developing methods and tools of analysis.
• Experience with developing engineering test procedures, analysis of results and fault finding.
• Calculation and report checking, signatory rights in previous positions would be desirable.
• You are likely to have knowledge and understanding of aerospace materials and a good understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of Project Management and MS Project.
• A degree in Engineering is highly desirable or equivalent experience and education.
