Description:

Finch Consulting is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its dynamic Asset Management team, delivering expert machinery consultancy services across multiple sectors, including food & drink, manufacturing, construction, and agriculture. In this role, you will provide specialist advice on PUWER compliance, UKCA/CE Marking, and general machinery safety assessments. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive, business-minded engineer to help grow Finch’s client base and service offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct PUWER inspections on both new and existing machinery at client sites.
  • Perform design reviews and assess conformity to design standards.
  • Review technical documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
  • Prepare client proposals and manage projects through the full project lifecycle.
  • Manage your own workload and projects, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
  • Carry out compliance assessments on mechanical equipment, machinery, and process systems.
  • Keep up to date with regulations and translate them into practical advice for clients.
  • Support expert witness work, advising on mechanical engineering matters, including personal injury cases and commercial claims.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
  • Chartered status (or actively working towards Chartership).
  • Minimum 10 years of industrial experience in relevant fields.
  • Expertise in conducting safety evaluations for machinery and equipment.
  • Strong ability to identify and implement business opportunities.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience conducting safety assessments for mechanical machinery.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in high-risk environments, with proven risk assessment capabilities.
