Description:
Bedfordshire Pension Fund, under the Bedford Borough Council, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Pensions and Performance Improvement Officer to join its dedicated pensions team. This role offers a dynamic opportunity to work on strategic pension administration projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in line with LGPS regulations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the Fund’s ongoing improvement agenda, overseeing performance standards, implementing legislative changes, and leading on complex remedial projects such as McCloud and Guaranteed Minimum Pension (GMP) reconciliations. You will also help shape and embed digital transformation initiatives aimed at optimizing pension service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage workloads and project delivery to meet both statutory and internal deadlines.
Lead on implementing McCloud and other retrospective pension remedy projects, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
Support completion of GMP reconciliation and ensure results are fully integrated into member records.
Develop and maintain comprehensive workflow documentation, process notes, and procedural guides.
Ensure all business processes adhere to LGPS regulations and relevant legislative frameworks.
Utilize new and emerging technologies to enhance business processes and data management.
Deliver quality assurance across member benefit calculations and data reporting.
Provide professional advice to managers and stakeholders regarding changes in legislation and pension policies.
Support the Pensions Performance and Continuous Improvement Manager in achieving organizational objectives and service improvements.
Role Requirements:
Educated to NVQ Level 3 / HNC / D (or equivalent) OR have substantial practical experience within LGPS administration.
Strong understanding of pension administration systems, payroll platforms, and data reporting tools.
Proven experience working with LGPS regulations, McCloud remedies, and GMP reconciliation projects.
Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities with experience managing complex workstreams.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex legislation to non-specialist audiences.
Ability to translate regulatory requirements into efficient, compliant operational processes.
