Description:
Bilfinger UK, a leading engineering and maintenance provider across multiple sectors including chemical, nuclear, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, power & energy, utilities, renewables, and food & beverage, is seeking an experienced Senior Planner for their Puma project in Hull. This role is responsible for providing project controls, planning activities, and cost/expenditure transparency across projects and contracts while ensuring best practice across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and manage effective project control strategies, maintaining project controls plans and associated procedures.
Ensure project schedules, including resource loading, critical path analysis, and progress monitoring, are implemented across all projects.
Collaborate with commercial managers, project managers, and engineers to achieve project objectives within scope, schedule, and budget.
Establish cost engineering systems to monitor, control, and report costs.
Aid in the development, integration, and optimisation of project programmes.
Liaise with project managers and project delivery teams to ensure the provision of resources and expertise.
Identify project risks, associated control measures, and opportunities.
Assist in the development and monitoring of key contracts.
Update business processes and reporting systems through to project closure.
Develop structured naming conventions in P6 and bespoke/generic rules of credit.
Specific Activities:
Review and approve cost/planning information for Monthly Project Board meetings.
Set up and lead Project Control Meetings.
Maintain robust monthly project updates, risk registers, and value analysis processes.
Manage programme integration from various sources.
Implement progress monitoring and productivity measurement.
Define and issue project work breakdown structures and estimating formats.
Monitor expenditure and adjust budgets in line with the project change control system.
Experience & Qualifications:
Proficient in P6 with strong analytical and communication skills.
8+ years in a leadership role in project controls.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related fields.
Additional qualifications: ICOS, CEng, IEng, or related certifications preferred.
Knowledge of ERP systems, SAP, estimating software, PMO processes, PowerBI, and Microsoft tools.
