Senior Platform Engineer

Description:

At Forter, you’ll have the chance to make a direct impact on the developer experience across the company while working with cutting-edge observability technologies and practices. We value innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement, and we can’t wait to see what you’ll bring to our team!

About the role:

At Forter, we are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer, Observability with a strong development background and hands-on experience in observability tooling (ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, Honeycomb, OTel etc.) to join our mission of revolutionizing how we observe and troubleshoot our systems. We efficiently handle TBs of o11y data per day with very few incidents.

In this role, you will help shape the future of observability at Forter, building scalable monitoring systems, creating intuitive developer tools, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure our systems are both highly reliable and easy to troubleshoot. We’re not just building for today – we’re focused on long-term, sustainable solutions that will scale with us as we grow.

Our team is based in London and we have engineers spread across the globe, predominantly in Israel, London and North America.

If you’re passionate about observability, automation, and continuous learning, you’ll thrive in this role. We believe in the power of collaboration – whether through pairing or thoughtful discussions – and we value individuals who are able to share their passion and knowledge and follow sustainable engineering practices.

What you'll be doing:

  • Collaborate on Observability Systems: Help design, build, and maintain Forter’s observability, monitoring, and alerting systems, ensuring they meet the needs of over 150 engineers across 20+ teams. They are integral to maintaining high availability (five-nines SLA) and improving our Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR).
  • Work alongside another senior engineer to help us complete our migration from our existing ELK stack to our new, more scalable platform that helps engineers easily track and resolve issues, driving faster recovery times and reducing friction. They include Prometheus, Mimir, Grafana, Honeycomb, Loki and Quickwit.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to level up their observability, and make the most of the platform we offer with a long-term, sustainable focus.
  • Help create a culture of continuous learning both inside and outside the team by leading by example, sharing knowledge, and contributing to team-wide discussions on improving processes and technology.

What you'll need:

  • 4+ years of experience in the relevant filed
  • You are self-driven, with a passion for building high-quality, sustainable software and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment in a sustainable manner.
  • You’re an effective communicator, able to explain complex technical issues and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in person and remotely.
  • You’re always looking for ways to improve processes and optimise systems, and you understand the balance between short-term goals and long-term impact.
  • You have a growth mindset, embracing challenges as opportunities to learn and develop, both personally and as part of the team.
  • Collaboration & Pair Programming: Comfortable working in a collaborative environment, especially with pair programming or code reviews, to share knowledge and ensure the team is aligned.
  • Experience with Observability Tools: Hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting systems such as Prometheus, Mimir, Grafana, ELK, Honeycomb, Loki, Quickwit or similar.
  • Development Background: Experience building and monitoring systems using modern programming languages (e.g. Python, Java, JavaScript, Ruby).
  • Cloud Infrastructure & Orchestration: Extensive experience working with AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, or other cloud platforms and container orchestration tools.

It would be cool if you have:

  • Experience with Observability-Driven Development (ODD).
  • Experience designing and scaling monitoring and alerting infrastructure for distributed systems, ideally in Kubernetes and AWS.
  • Familiarity with distributed tracing (e.g. OpenTelemetry).
  • Experience with cost optimisation strategies for observability tools and infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of microservices architectures and how to monitor complex, interdependent services.
  • Experience with SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) principles and practices.
  • Contributions to open-source projects in observability, monitoring, or related areas.

Benefits include:

  • Competitive salary and bonus plan
  • Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)
  • Private health insurance, including vision and dental coverage
  • Generous PTO policy
  • Half day Fridays, every Friday
