Senior Product Data Scientist

Description:

Viator, a Tripadvisor company and leading marketplace for travel experiences, is seeking a Senior Product Data Scientist to lead the development and application of data science within its Product organization. The role involves designing, implementing, and scaling statistical models to enhance product features, improve customer experience, and drive business decisions. The successful candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers, and mentor other analysts to foster a data-driven culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead data science initiatives within the Product team to improve personalization, recommendations, and overall product features.

• Architect and implement advanced statistical models, including predictive, classification, and clustering models.

• Explore and implement new tools, including Agentic AI, to identify opportunities and drive adoption.

• Design and analyze complex AB tests, causal inference models, and uplift modeling to inform product decisions.

• Mentor and guide product analysts in best practices for modeling, experimentation, and data-driven decision-making.

• Communicate complex insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Core Qualifications:

• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.

• Deep experience with statistical modeling, machine learning techniques, and experimentation.

• Proven ability to define and operationalize product and feature-level metrics.

• Strong strategic influence and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Experience in creating automated processes, self-service tools, or data products.

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.

Preferred / Plus:

• Advanced programming for simulations and prototyping.

• Experience validating quantitative findings with qualitative methods.

• Applied AI experience (NLP, LLMs, Agentic AI).

• Experience with customer segmentation models, including predictive LTV modeling.

• Experience in two-sided marketplaces, e-commerce, or travel technology.
