The team are first on the scene to assist road users on the road network, deliver engineering design and operational delivery services for more than 600 kilometres of road and 1,650 structures enabling reliable journey times and a high level of customer care for the people and businesses that use these roads every day.

By ensuring our roads and highways are well-maintained through all-weather seasons and traffic incidents, we aim to create well-functioning, safe spaces which minimise disruption, keep people moving and support thriving communities.

The Senior Project Manager plays an important part in the delivery of the liaison, coordination and management service necessary to minimize the impact of all roadworks, incidents and events occurring on or near the Trunk Road network of the Unit to minimise delays and congestion to Transport Scotland customers.

You will be responsible for:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for all roadworks undertaken by both the Operating Company and any third parties and also being first point of contact for any incidents or special events occurring on or near the unit
  • Coordinating, monitoring and controlling all roadworks, incidents and events to minimise road closures, potential impacts and conflicts
  • Maximising the capacity of the Trunk Road network, using the Roadworks Module, Scottish Road Works Register, Traffic Scotland Service website and other relevant systems where necessary. Also undertaking periodic site visits to assess the implementation and impact of roadworks and events
  • Liaising with relevant Operational Partners and sharing accurate and timely information to assist in the effective delivery and coordination of Operations
  • Communicating with the Incident Liaison Officers and relevant Operational Partners in dealing with Incidents occurring during roadworks; such liaison including coordination of the activation and implementation of Standard Incident Diversion Routes. Supporting in managing the delivery of the Trunk Road Incident Support Service and Incident Support Units’ requirements
  • Utilising and managing support personnel on more specific tasks relating to the planning and implementation of works including coordinating, mobilising, deploying and supervising traffic management arrangements and evaluating their impact
  • Providing activity reports on the impact on journey time reliability of the Trunk Road network with recommendations for proposed improvements
