Imperial College London, one of the world’s top ten universities renowned for its cutting-edge contributions in science, technology, engineering, medicine, and business (STEMB), is seeking a highly skilled Senior Property Operations Manager to join their dedicated property team. This key role is based at the prestigious White City campus in London.

Imperial College boasts one of the largest and most complex university estate portfolios in the UK, managing over 500,000 square meters of space, primarily in London, alongside additional operational, commercial, and investment properties across the country. The Senior Property Operations Manager will play a crucial role in managing the commercial residential assets within this extensive portfolio.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse property portfolio that includes Private Rental properties, Key Worker Accommodation (known as Imperial Living), Build to Rent assets, and various commercial lettings.

  • Oversee service charge accounting processes, ensuring accurate recharging or payment of estate charges for Imperial’s commercial tenants and instances where Imperial acts as the tenant.

  • Lead the management and monitoring of third-party service providers to ensure strict compliance with contractual obligations while identifying opportunities to maximise income generation from the estate portfolio.

  • Drive operational improvements in facilities management through continuous review and implementation of best practices.

  • Supervise daily property and estates management activities, ensuring smooth operations across all managed assets.

  • Act as a key liaison, communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders across the university, including academic departments, commercial tenants, service providers, and internal teams.

Candidate Profile:

  • Demonstrated expertise in property portfolio management within cross-sector environments, including higher education, private real estate, or public sector housing associations.

  • Strong command over service charge accounting with the ability to manage complex financial and contractual arrangements.

  • Proven skills in contracts management and facilities management, with a track record of delivering operational efficiencies and cost control.

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills to effectively engage with diverse groups and influence outcomes.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid work environment based in London.
