Description:
You will work on our South West Water Frameworks within our Environment Business, who are experienced in successfully delivering schemes of varying sizes, predominately to the Water Industry, across both Treatment Waste and Water schemes.
Ideally, you will be based in or around the Cornwall/Devon area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the Region.
We’re seeking a highly proactive and dynamic individual to drive the commercial performance of the Operating Unit, ensuring the budgeted financial goals are achieved as set out by the business.
It will be your role to ensure robust risk management principles are instilled, as well develop the commercial team
To be successful in the role, you’ll have a keen attention to detail in cost control, contract/change management and an unwavering focus on maintaining a cash positive position.
Working closely with the commercial team and Project leads, it will be down to you to ensure the correct project controls are in place across all disciplines and reporting regularly to the Commercial Manager.
You will also have the opportunity to actively participate in pre-construction and tendering activities by reviewing prices and protecting the business by identifying onerous terms in contracts.
Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for overseeing material and subcontract procurement and ensuring the correct governance is applied and ensure that monthly CVR’s and commercial reports are accurately reported to the required deadlines.
Your role forms an essential link in the supply chain, liaising with operational and engineering staff to ensure site records are kept to the standard required. You’ll show flexibility, resilience, and the ability to influence and build relationships. Demonstrating strong ethical standards with openness and honesty.
You’ll play a pivotal role in weekly progress and risk reduction meetings, producing, submitting, and agreeing monthly applications, to the Client and presenting detailed monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliation’s (CVR) and ‘Cost Plans’, tracking and forecasting expenditure and liabilities as required by the business unit or project.

About You:
Alongside your relevant degree and/or experience of working in a relevant Commercial environment, we’d like you to have experience of working on large single or multiple smaller schemes with solid knowledge of construction processes. A professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS, ideally Incorporated member or working towards full membership is desirable.
To be successful in the role, you’ll have an astute appreciation of standard forms of contract with strong IT skills including Excel, Word & Contractual and Cost Management Systems (CEMAR, Asite, Oracle).
We’re seeking an excellent team player with the confidence to communicate and influence at all levels and establish strong, collaborative working relationships. You will thrive when working with stakeholders across all levels, coupled with your ability to truly understand our business from a commercial standpoint, demonstrating Strong working knowledge of standard forms of contract, in particular the NEC3/4 suite of Contracts.
