The organization is currently seeking a Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker for its solo home in Wakefield, where you will play a vital role in delivering trauma-informed, compassionate care to a child in placement.

This is a hands-on leadership position, ideal for someone passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of vulnerable children. As a senior member of the team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring high-quality care delivery, supporting your colleagues, and creating a home that fosters safety, stability, and personal growth for the young person in your care.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent and trauma-informed support to a child in a solo residential placement.

  • Lead by example, ensuring the highest standards of care and emotional support.

  • Develop and maintain individualized care plans to promote positive outcomes.

  • Support the child’s daily routines, education, and personal development.

  • Manage and oversee day-to-day care operations, ensuring compliance with Ofsted and safeguarding standards.

  • Supervise and guide residential care staff, providing mentorship and performance feedback.

  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation in line with regulatory requirements.

  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, including therapists, educators, and local authorities.

  • Promote a nurturing, inclusive, and safe home environment where the child feels valued and supported.


Requirements:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification).

  • Minimum 12 months of experience in a children’s residential care setting.

  • Previous supervisory experience in a childcare or residential support role.

  • Full UK driving licence required.

  • Flexibility to work a 2 on / 4 off shift pattern including sleep-ins.

  • Must be aged 21 or above to meet industry regulations.

  • Ability to work empathetically and effectively with children who may have experienced trauma.

  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and promoting the welfare of young people.
