Description:

The Senior Risk & Resilience Manager at SSE Renewables is a pivotal strategic leadership position responsible for shaping, managing, and embedding risk and resilience frameworks across the business. As a trusted advisor to the Renewables Executive Committee, you will take full ownership of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, ensuring it is effectively implemented at all organizational levels to safeguard SSE Renewables’ assets, operations, and reputation.

This role is also accountable for overseeing Emergency Response and Business Continuity Management (BCM) frameworks, ensuring the company is prepared to respond to and recover from significant business disruptions or crises.

You will lead a small but highly skilled team of risk and resilience professionals, guiding and developing them while providing expert advice and insight to senior leadership on complex risk issues. Your ability to communicate clearly and influence decision-making will be critical in maintaining a strong risk culture and enhancing business resilience.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Enterprise Risk Management Leadership: Own and manage the design, implementation, and continual improvement of SSE Renewables’ Enterprise Risk Management Framework, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements.

  • Strategic Advisory: Act as a critical advisor to the Renewables Executive Committee and senior leadership team by facilitating risk assessment workshops, providing insights on emerging risks, and driving effective risk mitigation strategies.

  • Governance and Reporting: Develop and implement risk governance structures and reporting mechanisms that provide meaningful and actionable risk intelligence to decision-makers. Ensure key risks are escalated and managed appropriately.

  • Emergency Response & Business Continuity: Oversee the development, maintenance, and testing of emergency response and business continuity plans. Ensure clear roles and responsibilities across the organization for managing business interruptions and critical incidents.

  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of two risk and resilience specialists, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including internal teams, external partners, and regulators, to promote risk awareness and resilience best practices.

  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct and oversee detailed risk assessments and gap analyses, working cross-functionally to develop pragmatic solutions that reduce exposure and strengthen resilience.


Your Profile:

  • Proven expertise in risk management and resilience frameworks, with a deep understanding of best practices and industry standards.

  • Experience working in a large, complex organization, ideally within the energy or renewables sector.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex business environments and develop pragmatic, actionable solutions.

  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of clearly presenting complex issues and influencing a diverse group of stakeholders, including senior executives.

  • Leadership experience with a focus on team development and management.

  • Proactive, results-driven, and able to thrive in a dynamic and evolving business environment.
