Eequ, a forward-thinking education technology company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join its remote team. The company operates a marketplace and booking platform designed to empower learning experiences outside traditional academic settings, promoting a radically decentralised model of education.

The Senior Software Engineer will play a crucial role in re-architecting and scaling backend systems, reducing tight coupling, leading database layer improvements, and implementing high-performance architecture. Key responsibilities include leading migrations to Terraform, optimizing questionnaire modules, designing caching layers, and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams including the CEO, front-end developers, and other backend engineers.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in NestJS, Node.js, MySQL schema design, AWS infrastructure (RDS, S3, EC2, CloudWatch), and distributed systems. Strong communication skills, the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and experience with system design patterns, microservices, caching strategies, and performance testing are essential.
