The Role
Provide technical leadership for all aspects of design, delivery & production support for Hansen’s DevOps initiative (e.g. internal engineering, delivery teams, internal support).
Provide technical advice and implementation guidance to clients – ensure good practice is followed and that architectural requirements are being met.
Identify, communicate, and lead resolution of issues that impact the continuous delivery of our software and associated infrastructure.
Be a brand ambassador for Hansen’s “Power the Next” ethos.
Collaborate across internal organisations to improve customer delivery methodology and react proactively to industry trends and opportunities.
Act as a point of authority for our Cloud Native architecture (AWS) and drive continuous improvement across all areas of software delivery.
Duties & Responsibilities
Takes responsibility for design and delivery of Hansen’s Solutions and internal CI/CD and Deployment processes.
Liaises with clients to ensure architectural recommendations and requirements are met and that CI/CD good practice is adhered to.
Works with DevOps and engineering teams to design and implement improvements to CI/CD practices and develop new automation capabilities
Acts as a design authority for our Cloud Native (AWS) architecture and its evolution
Actively develops and manages relationships across multiple organisational tiers and disciplines, defining good practice and evangelising technical solutions
Lead and participate in design, triage, and testing sessions with program stakeholders and clients
Produces, reviews, finalises, and approves technical documents (internal and external) to ensure accuracy and quality
Works with DevOps engineers and delivery teams to drive resolution of issues arising from changes to scope, requirements, design, etc.
Works with DevOps Engineers to identify improvements to our microservice architecture, infrastructure deployment and CI/CD capabilities
Works to develop our Cloud Native architecture into a cloud-agnostic offering
Provides knowledge and thought leadership across multiple domains, including:
Understanding the technologies involved in a delivery, how they relate to Hansen’s Solutions, and addressing issues before they impact a program
Transferring this domain and product knowledge internally, building expertise across the organisation
Representing Hansen’s perspective & interests to industry groups and standards bodies as required
Works with Product Management, Marketing and Sales to:
Provide the point of contact with third party vendors where interfaces need to be built to these systems
Assist in the preparation of RFI/RFP responses
Perform technical and functional presentations to internal product and services teams
Define and prioritise the features and functionality of our Cloud Native platform and drive continuous improvement
Works with Professional Services and the Solution organisation to:
Review, update, and approve implementation design documents
Provide industry and domain consulting services to customers
Skills
Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience of the AWS cloud platform and associated services, infrastructure automation and management
Knowledge and demonstrated experience with our CI/CD stack: Jenkins, Terraform & Kubernetes with a strong understanding of containerised (microservice) architecture and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles
Proven thought leadership skills and the ability to present technical solutions to a broad range of technical stakeholders
Experience in use case and technical specification creation
Solid understanding of Service Oriented Architecture principles
Proven ability to achieve challenging goals and objectives across geographically distributed teams
Strong knowledge of programming languages, service oriented architectures, web services, RDBMS, workflow languages, technical standards
Proficient in UNIX/Linux environments
Education & Experience
Extensive experience in a high growth, telecommunications, cable, and/or high tech software environment
Proven experience working with internal departments and product delivery teams to implement consistent processes, standards and practices
Experience working in an Agile delivery environment
Strong understanding of change management practices with experience of implementing and scaling process change
Understand the typical retail product lifecycle management process
Possess a strong working knowledge of coding standards and “Everything as Code” practices
RDBMS (e.g., PostgreSQL/MongoDB)
Good working knowledge of integration and EAI
