The Energy Unit provides integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction, operations, and decommissioning. The Nuclear, Defence, and Civil division is a key part of this, supporting global clients on energy transition projects.
The Senior Systems Engineer will work closely with clients, designers, systems engineers, and interface managers to deliver high-quality systems engineering for complex projects. The role includes leading stakeholder workshops, defining system interfaces, managing multiple system deadlines, and producing critical deliverables such as:
User Requirements Document
Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP)
Requirements and Acceptance Management Strategy & Plan (RAMS & RAMP)
Concept of Operations (CONOPS)
Integrated Test Evaluation and Acceptance Strategy & Plan (ITEAS & ITEAP)
Develop, propose, and validate system requirements, addressing project knowledge gaps
Lead stakeholder workshops, defining metrics and acceptance criteria
Define internal and external system interfaces with designers and Interface Managers
Develop and review systems engineering artefacts
Capture and translate stakeholder vision into system and sub-system requirements
Use requirements management software to manage requirements efficiently
Communicate complex technical content clearly at all levels
Conduct domain-specific analyses from system to component level
Develop Concept of Operations and system architectures (functional and physical)
Validate User Requirements and manage Verification & Validation evidence
Produce high-quality technical reports, presentations, and project artefacts
Mentor junior staff and oversee task supervision
Strong understanding of systems engineering tools and techniques (functional modelling, Function Means Analysis, decision analysis)
Stakeholder management skills with clear communication of complex concepts
Experience in requirements development and validation for infrastructure projects
Knowledge of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and system architecture development
Expertise in Integrated Test Evaluation and Acceptance strategies
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and system architecture tools (e.g., Visio, Sparx EA)
Excellent written communication with attention to detail
Experience in infrastructure projects; nuclear sector experience preferred
Role requires appropriate Security Clearance
