Senior Technical Architect

Description:

This role is ideal for experienced Senior Technical Architects looking to collaborate on some of Europe’s largest digital transformations. You will design modern IT architecture for products and services supporting millions of DWP claimants. The position involves shaping integration architecture, ensuring scalable solutions, and providing expert advice to drive technology choices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead technical design of systems and services, justifying and communicating design decisions

• Ensure technical work aligns with broader government strategy

• Explore cross-government alignment benefits

• Provide mentoring within teams

• Translate business requirements into traceable technical solutions

• Oversee architecture governance of IT solutions supporting DWP customers

Qualifications & Skills:

• Architecture design across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments covering networking, security, middleware, database, presentation, and integration

• Experience working in agile, waterfall, and hybrid project delivery environments

• Expertise in microservice and API-led architecture, API management (REST/JSON, SOAP/XML, GraphQL), and API lifecycle tools

• Knowledge of integration platforms such as Kong EE, ISITO, Envoy, IBM WebSphere

• Experience with messaging and streaming systems like JMS, AMQP, MQTT, IBM MQ, Amazon SQS/SNS, Azure SB, Kafka, Amazon Kinesis

• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
