Job Purpose
You will provide town planning advice and consultancy services to clients across a variety of sectors, including residential, retail, healthcare, automotive & roadside and commercial.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Provision of commercially astute and timely planning advice across a range of projects and sectors.
- Conducting case work as directed by the Project Lead.
- The production, co-ordination, submission and management of planning applications, planning appeals and requests for pre-application planning advice.
- Proactively liaising and negotiating with clients, planning officers, statutory consultees, external consultants and other third parties, where required.
- Undertaking initial planning appraisals.
- Undertaking site visits and attending project and client meetings, planning committees and public consultation events, as required.
- Working to deadlines and within the parameters, scope and budget of the instruction, and in accordance with our internal QA systems.
- Writing reports, interpreting data, and making recommendations.
- Demonstrating business development skills through effective client management, attendance at networking events and actively seeking out new work opportunities for all parts of the business.
Person Specification
- Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute or working towards full membership.
- Strong technical knowledge in the field of town planning and associated legislation, procedures and regulations.
- The ability to write clearly and concisely and to develop arguments in written form.
- The ability to present information and articulate arguments confidently when speaking.
- Committed to continuing professional development through attendance at appropriate training courses and internal CPD sessions and wider reading.
- The ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
