Description:
To underwrite and grow the syndicate’s global War, Terrorism & Political Violence (PV) portfolio, adhering to the Syndicate’s Business Plan, class strategy, underwriting guidelines, and personal underwriting authorities. The role supports the Class Underwriter as needed and is ideal for someone well-versed in the class with strong stakeholder management and business development skills.
Underwrite Terrorism & Political Violence business responsibly, referring risks to senior underwriters when required
Achieve the agreed business mix, premium income, and underwriting loss ratios (ULRs)
Assist the Class Underwriter in formulating account business plans
Monitor Opal, binders, facilities, and lineslips for declarations, premium income, and aggregates
Establish, maintain, and service client and producer relationships
Ensure high-quality service to brokers, coverholders, and policyholders
Undertake business travel to cultivate and maintain business relationships
Support the management and development of Assistant Underwriters and Underwriting Assistants
Liaise with colleagues, senior management, and auditors as required
Participate in projects, product development, and other duties as directed
Strong working knowledge of the Terrorism / PV market, including policy wordings, coverages, premium rates, and risk factors
Detailed understanding of regional and global security environments
Outstanding analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills
Ability to work collaboratively and independently
Excellent presentation, communication, and social skills
Strong organisational, planning, and time management skills
ACII qualification is advantageous
Academic background in International Relations, History, or Politics is advantageous
