Role Overview:

The Service Charge Manager acts as the key ambassador for rent and service charges, managing essential processes and stakeholder relationships within Paradigm’s Finance directorate. This role leads a small team and supports the strategic direction of the service charge function, ensuring value for money for customers while maximizing rent and service charge recovery.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage rent and service charge processes, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.

  • Provide expert advisory support to service owners and budget holders.

  • Monitor, review, and analyse service charge recovery and related financial data.

  • Plan and organise resources to meet strict rent and service charge calendar deadlines.

  • Lead a small team, promoting compliance, accuracy, and strong service delivery.

  • Measure, evaluate, and improve existing systems and processes, delivering innovative service enhancements.

  • Collaborate closely with the rent and service charge project manager and project team to support transformation projects.

  • Confidently handle challenges, balancing business and customer interests effectively.

  • Support the implementation of new rent and service charge software modules.


Candidate Profile:

  • Proven experience in rent and service charge management.

  • Strong knowledge of leasehold and housing legislation.

  • Sound understanding of accounting procedures and financial analysis.

  • Experience working in a Finance team environment with strong analytical skills.

  • Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Attention to detail and ability to enforce compliance within the team.

  • Comfortable managing challenging deadlines and conflicting priorities.

  • Customer-focused with strong commercial acumen.

  • Flexibility to work full-time or part-time (around 30 hours per week, 4 days).


Working Hours:

  • Standard hours: 37 hours/week

  • Monday to Thursday: 09:00 – 17:30

  • Friday: 09:00 – 17:00

  • Hybrid working with 2 days in office, 3 days remote

  • Reduced hours opportunity available (approx. 30 hours/4 days)
