Sessional Youth Support Worker

 

Description:

Groundwork NE & Cumbria is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Sessional Youth Support Workers to join their dynamic Youth Team. This role focuses on engaging with targeted communities to deliver inclusive opportunities for young people, promoting personal and social development, and fostering a positive impact within the community.

As a Youth Support Worker, you will work directly with young people to build strong, positive relationships that encourage personal growth, community participation, and skill development. The role requires active engagement with participants, support for the Youth & Community Engagement Officer, and collaboration with Lead Youth Workers to ensure high-quality program delivery.

You will also support volunteers and assist in delivering a range of youth projects across designated areas. The postholder will be part of a committed team, operating within a diverse and fast-paced environment, ensuring project deadlines are met while maintaining service quality.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with young people in targeted communities, building trust and fostering positive relationships.

  • Support the delivery of personal and social development programs tailored to meet young people's needs.

  • Assist Youth & Community Engagement Officers and Lead Youth Workers in implementing project activities.

  • Provide support to volunteers and other support workers involved in youth programs.

  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with colleagues, participants, external partners, and community stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and uphold the welfare of all children, young people, and adults at risk.

  • Contribute to community engagement and capacity-building initiatives.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and passionate about youth engagement and development.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to build positive working relationships with young people, staff, and community partners.

  • Experience in youth work or related community roles is desirable.

  • Ability to deliver high-quality services in a dynamic, sessional work environment.


Additional Information:

  • Working Hours: Evening sessions, Monday to Friday.

  • Disclosure Requirement: Enhanced Disclosure endorsed by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

  • Visa Sponsorship: Not eligible; applicants must have existing Right to Work in the UK.
