Singing Tutor/musical Theatre Tutor

Description:

We are recruiting for a regular weekly singing tutor at both locations, with additional work available at holiday workshops. Also recruiting for cover teachers for Musical Theatre/Drama/Singing. Our classes run on Mondays at Kegworth Village Hall, 4-6pm and at Greenwood Community Centre Toton on Thursdays 4-6pm. Candidates can specify if they are available for one or both locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and teach weekly lessons in singing and/or musical theatre, including obtaining appropriate backing tracks.
  • Preparing children for LAMDA exams.
  • Completing the lesson registers via our App so that the Principal knows who has attended.
  • Possibility of helping plan and deliver school holiday workshops/theatre weeks.
  • Possibility of working within schools as the business progresses, in school LAMDA teaching, KS1 & KS2 Singing Assemblies and other workshops.
  • Attend training sessions, planning meetings with the Principal and the Little Voices Nottingham and Loughborough team.
  • Join the “Little Voices National tutor group” on facebook - an invaluable tool where you can ask questions, share ideas and discuss Little Voices with other tutors nationally.
  • Help in the development and growth of a local business, with the support of an established and award winning franchise.
  • Help in the development and growth of an established and growing local business.
  • We offer a comprehensive training and induction programme and you will be part of a very supportive and award winning franchise network. DBS, public liability insurance and first aid training is essential. We are committed to safeguarding and references will be requested. If you do not have these in place we can help you to organise this.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Ideally looking for someone with a qualification in the field of performing arts at degree level with teaching experience. However, if you have a passion for Musical Theatre/Drama/Singing and working with young people but not qualified to degree level, please do still apply. The tutors’ characteristics and ability to teach and connect with our pupils is more important than their education journey.
  • Experience with the LAMDA examination process is desirable but not essential. Training will be provided where necessary.
  • Knowledge of key vocal techniques and ability to teach these in a fun, engaging way.
  • A fun, caring & warm personality
  • Able to build a good rapport with children
  • Creatively inspiring – whether you’re a great singer or actor, a talented musician, a comic, or someone who simply has lots of wonderful ideas!
  • Passionate, motivated & high-energy – able to ‘lift’ pupils at the end of a busy school day!
  • Organised – with the ability to follow a syllabus, set clear learning outcomes & plan a good lesson
  • Flexible enough to allow for spontaneity
  • Professional to a tee – because you’ll be representing a successful, multi-award winning brand!
  • A full driving licence would be useful as the job involves driving to different locations within the territory.
  • Prior to undertaking any work with us, we need to ensure that you have a full enhanced DBS (and preferably be on the update service), safeguarding training, paediatric first aid training and fire marshal training. We can help you to arrange this.
