Description:

The University of Salford invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Counselling and Psychotherapy within the School of Health and Society. This fixed-term, full-time role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist with a supervision qualification to contribute to the development and delivery of Counselling and Psychotherapy education at a leading UK university.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant, forward-thinking team of educators and practitioners dedicated to shaping the next generation of counselling professionals. This role is ideally suited for individuals who are passionate about education, possess extensive clinical experience, and have a strong foundation in person-centred counselling and supervision practice.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality lectures, seminars, and practical workshops in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

  • Supervise student practitioners and provide mentorship in both academic and clinical contexts.

  • Contribute to curriculum design and enhancement of teaching materials to ensure alignment with industry standards.

  • Support the professional development of students through research supervision and reflective practice facilitation.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain the school’s reputation for excellence in teaching and research.

  • Participate in academic administration, assessment, and student support activities.


Candidate Profile:

  • Qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist with significant hands-on experience in professional practice.

  • Hold a Supervision Qualification and experience supervising counselling students or practitioners.

  • Strong commitment to person-centred education and evidence-based teaching methods.

  • Excellent communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.

  • Familiarity with higher education settings and willingness to engage in collaborative academic work.
