Queen Square Recruitment is hiring a skilled Snowflake Database Administrator for a hybrid contract engagement based in Norwich, UK. This is a pivotal opportunity to work on a mission-critical project for a leading global client in the finance and technology domain. The successful candidate will play a central role in the optimization and transformation of cloud-based data infrastructures using Snowflake and AWS.

This contract role demands an expert-level Snowflake DBA with solid experience in managing large-scale data environments, database administration, and performance tuning within cloud and hybrid infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain Snowflake environments, including access controls and account management

  • Oversee data security, governance, and compliance within Snowflake

  • Monitor and optimize database performance, virtual warehouses, and workloads

  • Implement backup strategies, disaster recovery solutions, and replication methods

  • Facilitate data sharing via Snowflake Marketplace and Data Exchange

  • Collaborate with development teams, cloud engineers, and business stakeholders

  • Execute data migration, integrity validation, and workflow alignment across platforms

  • Utilize SQL, including Snowflake-specific extensions, to manage and optimize queries and stored procedures

  • Ensure efficient operation within hybrid cloud environments using tools such as AWS

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in Snowflake DBA with at least 3+ years of hands-on experience

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and Snowflake SQL

  • Experience with AWS and hybrid cloud environments

  • Background in DBA roles involving SQL Server, Exadata, or Teradata

  • Solid knowledge of data governance, backup, disaster recovery, and cloud security protocols

Desirable Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder management experience

  • Client-facing experience, with the ability to represent technical solutions effectively

  • High attention to detail, strong analytical mindset
