Social Media & Communications Lead

 

Description:

Northorpe Hall Child & Family Trust, a pioneering charity in West Yorkshire, is seeking a Social Media & Communications Lead to amplify its visibility and support income generation. This is a unique opportunity for a creative and mission-driven professional to shape and implement communications strategies that genuinely impact the lives of children and young people facing mental health and social challenges.

In this newly created role, you will be at the heart of enhancing the Trust’s online and public presence. You’ll co-create compelling content with staff, volunteers, service users, and carers—ensuring it resonates with donors, funders, and the wider community. Your work will directly support the charity's growth, outreach, and income generation efforts.

You’ll report to the CEO and work closely with the Income Generation & Partnership Development Manager to lead projects, run campaigns, maintain a consistent brand voice, and manage content across platforms including social media, websites, email, and print.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Communications & Marketing

  • Develop and implement a communications strategy aligned with income generation goals

  • Create compelling content across platforms (social, web, print, email)

  • Plan and deliver digital campaigns to boost visibility, donor engagement, and support

  • Report on campaign performance, return on investment, and user engagement

Website Development & Maintenance

  • Oversee content creation, updates, SEO improvements, and analytics

  • Enhance site design and usability to attract and retain visitors

Social Media Management

  • Create, schedule, and manage engaging posts

  • Monitor interactions and respond appropriately

  • Identify opportunities to grow audiences and engagement

Content Creation

  • Design digital materials (infographics, videos, stories) using tools like Canva and Wix

  • Support event and fundraising campaign promotions through creative media

Event Management & Sponsorship

  • Coordinate in-person/virtual events and launches

  • Support sponsorship and partnership initiatives

Brand Promotion & Media Engagement

  • Ensure brand consistency in all communications

  • Build relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers

Reporting & Analytics

  • Use data tools like Google Analytics and CRM systems to evaluate performance

  • Deliver quarterly reports on communications activities with insights for optimization


Candidate Profile:

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • 2+ years in marketing, PR, or communications (preferably nonprofit sector)

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience

  • Strong written/verbal communication skills for diverse audiences

  • Experience in website and social media content creation and management

  • Proficiency with tools like Canva, Wix, WordPress

  • Familiarity with SEO, Google Analytics, and social media advertising

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently

  • Event management, especially in fundraising/community contexts
