We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Social Media Officer. In this role, you’ll support the delivery of paid and organic social media activity and campaigns for the charity’s fundraising, health awareness activities and scientific/research portfolio. Further to this, you’ll contribute to the aims and objectives of the charity in line with organisation-wide priorities.

What will I be doing?

  • Supporting on the planning and delivery of paid and organic social media campaigns, creating written or creative content to publicise Cancer Research UK’s fundraising initiatives, research and campaigns

  • Supporting on the set up and delivery of paid social media campaigns

  • Project managing key elements of communications campaigns and events

  • Collating and distributing campaign and channel evaluations

  • Working with relevant CRUK teams to source case studies and/or celebrity supporters and influencers to bring to life the human stories behind Cancer Research UK

  • Monitoring social media trends and spotting opportunities that could build on and develop CRUK’s social media audiences and content

  • Liaising with internal teams on the development and roll-out of media stories/campaigns to ensure maximum comms channels and audience are reached

  • Working with colleagues to think creatively and produce bold, engaging content that works across multiple communications channels.

What skills are you looking for?

  • Relevant experience of delivering social media campaigns, with experience of paid social media

  • Experience of developing content for consumer-facing social media channels

  • Experience of working with social media analytics tools, Google Analytics and and/or Campaign Manager 360

  • Accountable for own work, while receiving supervision and direction from line manager

  • Use your own initiative to prioritise day-to-day tasks and make decisions within established guidelines and policies.

  • Can explain information clearly and encourage colleagues to understand different points of view

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to find creative ways to publicise fundraising/health/research initiatives.
