The Prisma – The Multicultural Newspaper, a bilingual and independent media outlet founded and run by migrants, has been a voice for multicultural journalism in the UK for over 15 years. Known for amplifying migrant voices and addressing key social issues, The Prisma is currently facing a critical situation and has launched a fundraising campaign to secure its future.

As part of this initiative, The Prisma is building a new communications team and seeking committed volunteers to support the campaign. This role offers an opportunity to directly contribute to the survival of a unique and essential media outlet. Volunteers will engage in impactful activities ranging from social media management to outreach and campaign communications.

Your work will help revitalise the digital presence of the newspaper, engage its bilingual readership, and expand support from the wider community. Whether you have professional experience in communications or simply the drive to contribute, your efforts will make a real difference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-manage official social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X).

  • Create, edit, and schedule engaging content in English and/or Spanish.

  • Interact with followers, share campaign updates, and foster community engagement.

  • Contribute creative ideas to strengthen The Prisma’s digital voice.

  • Support outreach efforts by writing letters, making calls, or sending emails to potential supporters.

  • Work collaboratively with the communications team to advance the campaign.

Essential Skills & Qualities:

  • Strong sense of initiative, responsibility, and teamwork.

  • Commitment of approximately 2 days per week, with flexibility in hours.

  • Proficiency in English for content creation and communication.

  • Spanish language skills are highly valued for connecting with the core audience.

  • Enthusiasm, adaptability, and willingness to contribute to a cause-driven initiative.
