The UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) is seeking an experienced Senior Mental Health Social Worker to join its medical team at St Athan Medical Centre in Wales. This pivotal role involves providing high-quality mental health support and social work services to Armed Forces personnel, their families, and other individuals under MOD care.
As a Senior Mental Health Social Worker, you will play an integral role in delivering advanced social work assessments, designing tailored intervention plans, and ensuring the overall wellbeing of service users experiencing complex mental health challenges. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including psychologists, psychiatrists, and general practitioners to provide comprehensive care in a secure, inclusive, and structured environment.
This role demands a high degree of empathy, resilience, and professionalism, as you’ll be working within a military healthcare framework that requires adherence to confidentiality, ethical standards, and strict security protocols.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting detailed psychosocial assessments and creating effective care plans.
Delivering therapeutic interventions and ongoing mental health support.
Working collaboratively with clinical staff and external agencies to coordinate patient care.
Ensuring compliance with MOD and NHS standards in documentation and case management.
Supporting crisis intervention and risk management activities.
Maintaining accurate records and contributing to service development initiatives.
Annual salary of £37,720 plus £2000 market supplement.
