Description:

The post holder will join the Oxford Space instrumentation group to support the development of the MIRMIS instrument for the European Space Agency’s Comet Interceptor mission. The MIRMIS instrument is a novel, compact imaging infrared radiometer and spectrometer being developed for planetary science applications in the Department of Physics, University of Oxford, in collaboration with VTT Finland. The post holder will work with the existing Oxford MIRMIS team to assist with development of onboard software, instrument integration and testing.

The successful candidate will Support the development of the MIRMIS instrument flight software and Assist with translating instrument specification requirements into technical specifications. Plan, analyse and design algorithms.

The post holder will Ensure that project work is completed to appropriate coding standards and participation in code reviews and will present results.

They will work closely with members of the MIRMIS project team to ensure that development workflows adhere to project requirements and timelines.

Applicants should possess a first degree or advanced vocational qualification in software development, engineering or physical science and demonstrable experience of C programming. Experience of developing embedded control systems. Evidence of successful teamwork and have strong communication skills. To be able to make decisions and solve problems are also essential.

A software engineering qualification and experience with space flight development would be an advantage.
