Software Engineer

Description:

Douglas Scott Legal Recruitment, on behalf of a specialist debt recovery law firm, is seeking a Legal Software Developer to lead the development of a bespoke case management system. This is a rare greenfield opportunity where you’ll take complete ownership of the architecture, design, and development of a mission-critical platform tailored to legal workflows.

This position is open to candidates across the UK with remote working flexibility, although residency within the UK is required for compliance and operational reasons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end development of a custom case management system specifically optimized for debt recovery legal processes

  • Collaborate directly with firm leadership to understand and map existing legal workflows into an efficient digital solution

  • Integrate third-party platforms such as CRMs, court filing systems, and payment gateways to ensure seamless operations

  • Implement rigorous data security protocols to ensure confidentiality, compliance, and regulatory alignment

  • Provide ongoing technical support, iterations, and improvements post-deployment based on evolving firm needs and legal updates

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Demonstrable experience designing and building workflow-based software, ideally in a legal or compliance-driven environment

  • Advanced coding and system architecture skills with an ability to choose and justify the best tech stack for the project

  • Bonus points for familiarity with debt recovery legal operations or having previously worked with law firms

  • Independent and proactive, capable of translating business challenges into technical solutions without extensive oversight

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
